Ethical Jewellery

We have outlined important ethical options and reassurances that are available for all our bespoke jewellery, and will happily work to meet any client's additional ethical demands. W&W value their social responsibility and actively pursue new ways to conduct our business in an environmentally friendly way and strive to deliver honest, fair and professional advice on the best ethical practise available to our clients.

gemstones - cutout optSourcing

  • We buy through select, trusted and legitimate key dealerships.
  • We can guarantee all our diamonds are conflict free (as disclosed on all our invoices).
  • While small stones are not traceable to an exact source we can work to find diamonds or gemstones of known origins.
  • Our precious metals are purchased from leading bullion merchants.

Alternatives

There are always alternative sources for nearly every raw material that makes up each piece, but a premium price may be attached. Please contact W&W if you require further information.

  • Gold - Fairtrade and Fairmined gold was launched on 14th February 2011, along with Californian, Welsh and possibly Scottish gold will be available in the future.
  • Diamonds - Russian and Canadian, both countries mine, cut and polish diamonds within their own borders and adhere to the Kimberley Process.
  • Gemstones - Qualities vary but we can easily source stones from chosen origins.

Restoration and Recycling

  • W&W promote the updating, restoring and recycling of inherited jewellery.
  • Use old stones to create new modern pieces.
  • W&W can also source specific Vintage pieces.

All W&W's manufacturing is UK based. There are of course various levels of ethical concern including origin, political, ecological and humanitarian. Unfortunately a significant number of source countries have varying ethical question marks hanging over them - Africa, Sri Lanka, Columbia, Burma, Thailand. The key is that whilst we do make use of these origins we do not ignore the issues and are happy to meet a client's expectations in delivering a comprehensive guide to how their jewellery has been sourced and created in line with their needs.
